In our Cellier Grapevine videos we take a look some interesting facts about wine that you may not already know & make them into short bite-sized videos. In today’s release we’re looking at wine consumption around the world, especially in Vatican City which has the highest wine consumption per capita of all!

These figures come from analysis of trade data in 2009 & can easily be explained. First, various Christian ceremonies use red wine symbolically so it’s no wonder that Vatican City gets through lots. Second, Vatican City has a very low proportion of children in their population compared to other wine drinking countries, this means a higher percentage of the population can drink wine.
